Description
It is well known that military crises can disrupt health services and create predispositions for disease outbreaks. Drawing from her research before and during the war in Ukraine, Dr. Vasylyeva will talk about how displacement affects physical and mental wellbeing of Ukrainians. As the war exposes more people to traumatic events, it is important to investigate how this affects their behavioral risks for infectious disease transmission and acquisition. Using HIV and Hepatitis C virus as examples, Dr. Vasylyeva will also explain how viruses can move between displaced and nondisplaced populations and what we can do to prevent the spread.
