This MCLE event is designed for new and experienced attorneys alike, and will cover common problems in the attorney-client relationship including intake, engagement, mistakes, blogging and online marketing, and termination.

MCLE credit will be available for members of the California Bar. This event is approved for 1.0 hour of Minimum Continuing Legal Education Credit by the State Bar of California. UCI Law is a State Bar-approved MCLE provider. The MCLE Certificate of Attendance will be sent via email by UCI Law following the event. Please allow 2-3 days to receive your certificate. Attendees must have participated in the program in its entirety to receive MCLE credit. Partial credit will not be given.

Emil J. Ali ('07) is a partner at McCabe & Ali, LLP where he focuses his practice on helping lawyers understand their obligations under state and federal law. As a registered patent attorney, a significant focus of his practice involves advising lawyers and law firms on all aspects of the intersection of IP and ethics matters. Emil’s work includes counseling clients on lateral transitions, malpractice avoiding, expert work, and respondents work before various bars and courts, as well as the USPTO’s Office of Enrollment and Discipline where he previously worked. Emil is also an adjunct professor of law at Lewis and Clark Law School, where he teaches legal ethics.
