Following the success of the Pacific Worlds symposium from winter quarter, the UCI Humanities Center is co-sponsoring this event to explore research approaches for transoceanic studies.
Please join us for a roundtable featuring three speakers offering short presentations on various methodologies that attend to challenges or restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 lockdown. This will be followed by method-related breakout rooms. Experts will discuss digital humanities, ethnography, and unorthodox archival work.
The roundtable will be followed by focused discussion rooms led by our speakers. Access to these breakout rooms will be provided at the end of the webinar.
Speakers will include:
Gökçe Günel, assistant professor and director of undergraduate studies, Rice University
Su Lin Lewis, senior lecturer in modern global history, University of Bristol
Koa Luke, Assistant Archivist Cataloger, University of Hawaiʻi West Oʻahu
Saiba Varma, assistant professor, psychology/medical anthropology, UC San Diego
